The primary armament of the Kraken is an immense 35 mm mass driver. Mounted in a turret and fired from the walker’s stable four-legged chassis\u00a0this mass driver has a range\u00a0of 25 kilometers and is capable of destroying almost any target smaller than an armored spaceship.<\/p>\n

A note on these designs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

These three mechs <\/a>were built using the rules in the Mongoose Traveller Vehicle Handbook<\/a>\u00a0(VH). While choosing\u00a0weaponry I couldn’t help noticing that the statistics listed for weapons in the Vehicle Handbook do not all agree with the statistics for weapons in the Mongoose Central Supply Catalog<\/a>\u00a0(CSC).<\/p>\n

Mainly the difference is in ranges, but some weapons differ in size as well. For example gatling lasers\u00a0are listed as firing up to 25 km in the CSC but only 5 km in the VH. Contrast to the 35mm rail gun which fires 4 km in the CSC and 25 km in the VH.<\/p>\n

As the Vehicle Handbook was published after the Central Supply Catalog, I have designed these walkers using the statistics from the more recent supplement. It also has the range tables for these weapons, so I feel is is more authoritative.<\/p>\n
