This could involve raising and ducking behind a shield, preparing to dodge a blow, or holding your weapon in a guard position.<\/p>\n<p>Bracing is a standard action which gives the character who braces a +1 dodge bonus to their AC and Reflex save until the start of their next turn.<\/p>\n<p>Use of this optional rule may give combat a more granular feel, and peels back a bit of the abstraction that is assumed in the combat rules around AC and Reflex saving throws.
